Fall is a wonderful time of year when the weather gets colder and you can feel the approach of the upcoming holidays. As you enjoy this time, it’s important to keep your smile in mind. In fact, it’s best to take good care of your smile so you can maintain a top-notch oral health that’s ready for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. To help you care for your smile, our dentist, Dr. Charles Anderson, encourages you to do a couple things.

First, keep up on oral hygiene. In order to do so, you need to brush your teeth twice a day, floss your smile once a day, rinse your mouth daily, and visit your dentist every six months for a dental checkup. These things can help you have strong and healthy teeth and gums. As you clean your smile, please remember to use oral hygiene products that have been tested and approved by the American Dental Association.

Second, wear a mouthguard if you participate in high-contact sports. This is important because many oral injuries occur on the field, court, or track. If you don’t wear a mouthguard, there is a high chance you’ll suffer knocked-out, cracked, and broken teeth. You could also suffer injured gums and even a dislocated jaw. So, please remember to wear a mouthguard if you play high-contact fall sports.
